From our own traveler album

I was born in 1974, during a period of civil war in Cambodia. When I was still very young, my family and I were taken and questioned by the Khmer Rouge under suspicion of having connections with the American Government.
My family endured severe interrogation and suffering, and my mother later passed away as a result of the abuse she experienced. I was then abandoned in a rice field and left to die. Somehow, I survived. I woke up alone and crying until a woman named Long heard me, found me, and brought me to a child mobile unit during the Khmer Rouge era.
I survived the civil war and the Killing Fields period, experiences that became an important part of my life and identity.
In 1994, I began working for a Japanese company. In 1995, I earned certifications in Japanese and English, and I completed my education in 1998.
Today, I work as a local guide because I want to share Cambodia’s history with visitors in an honest and meaningful way. Through my own experience and knowledge, I hope to help travelers better understand the history of the Khmer Rouge era, the Killing Fields, and the resilience of the Cambodian people.
“My purpose is not only to show you Cambodia, but also to help you understand its history, its people, and the stories behind the places you visit.”
